A Control Operator is an in-house security specialist. This is an entry-level non-certified detention staff position whose primary responsibility is to assist in the safety, security, and movement of staff and incarcerated public offenders in the Blaine County Detention Center.
Control Operators require a high level of multi-tasking ability to operate technical systems for the security of the facility including, but not limited to:
- Over 80 Cameras
- Security Doors
Control Operators have a critical role in officer safety, inmate safety, and facility security.
Control Operators provide visual, radio, and camera monitoring of all movements and activities within the Detention Center from their vantage inside the Central Control booth. They are responsible for the operation of all secure doors entering and exiting our facility. If you are interested in law enforcement and possess a high level of detail, this is a great way to get started in law enforcement.
Full-time position with rotating shifts; Good Character and clean background required.

Control Operator Qualifications
- Meet all Minimum Hiring Standards
- Be a U.S. Citizen and at least 19 years of age
- Possess a valid Idaho Drivers License
- Have a High School Diploma or GED Equivalency
- Pass a Computer Skills Test with a minimum typing speed of 20 words per minute
- Pass background investigation, oral board interviews, vision, hearing, and polygraph testing.

Control Operators generally work 12-hour shifts alternating between 3 and 4 shifts per week. The schedule rotation includes days, nights, weekends, graveyards, and holidays.
