On Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at approximately 2:48 p.m., Blaine County Sheriff deputies responded to a report of a disturbed person inside the Village Market in Ketchum, Idaho that was refusing to leave the store.
Based upon her refusal to leave or comply, deputies placed her in custody for Disturbing the Peace, I.C. 18-6409, and Resisting/Obstructing Officers, I.C. 18-705, both misdemeanors.
During her arrest, Rebecca A. Piirainen, age 32 of Sparks, Nevada physically fought with the three deputies by kicking, biting, and striking them. Piirainen was booked into the Blaine County Detention Center on the original misdemeanor charges and one additional felony charge of Battery upon a Police Officer, I.C. 18-903(a), 18-915(3)(b). The deputies were treated for their injuries and released from St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center. Piirainen was arraigned in Magistrate Court Wednesday afternoon where a bond of $5,000 was set.
